World soil day
The survival of our planet depends on a precious connection with the soil.
05/12/2024
World Soil Day is held every year on December 5 to focus attention on the importance of healthy soil and the sustainable management of soil resources. The theme of World Soil Day 2024 is "Caring for soils: measure, monitor, manage". This theme highlights the importance of collecting and using soil data to better understand soil health, advance sustainable soil management and support global food security, carbon storage and biodiversity conservation.
More than 95 % of our food comes from the soil. In addition, they supply 15 of the 18 natural chemical elements essential for plants.
However, under the influence of climate change and human activity, our soils are being degraded. Erosion disrupts the natural balance, reducing water infiltration and availability to all life forms and reducing the level of vitamins and nutrients in food. With this in mind, every step counts in conserving our resources.
Sustainable soil management practices, such as minimum tillage, crop rotation, adding organic matter and cover crops, improve soil health, reduce erosion and pollution, and improve infiltration and water storage. These practices also preserve soil biodiversity, improve fertility and contribute to carbon sequestration, playing a key role in the fight against climate change.

Green loans
Favorable financing of projects related to the green and circular economy.
We support our clients in the design of a new economic ecosystem, and the circular economy and sustainable development represent a great opportunity for all participants in the economy and their integration to achieve a common goal.
InvestEU guarantee program
PBZ implements the InvestEU guarantee program, offering loans to entrepreneurs with the support of the European Commission through the European Investment Fund, among others in the field of sustainability (green investments, sustainable management of natural resources, protection and restoration of biodiversity, renewable energy sources, etc.).
The InvestEU guarantee enables loan users to achieve more favorable financing conditions compared to financing without the InvestEU guarantee.
PBZ Šuma
PBZ Šuma is only one of the ecological initiatives within the framework of which PBZ successfully reforested 50,000 m2 of hard-to-reach burned areas with drones over the course of three years.
Our contribution to "Food Forest"
PBZ employees from Čakovec, Varaždin and Zagreb, together with students of the Čakovec School of Economics, engaged as volunteers in an important ecological initiative in Čakovec called "Food Forest". This dynamic action involved the planting of 150 fruit trees and 300 seedlings, creating self-sustaining edible orchards in the EU Amazon region. The goal of this project is to develop an ecosystem that mimics the structure and functions of a natural forest, with an emphasis on biodiversity and self-sustainability. The fruits of these orchards will be available to the local population in the future, thus supporting their nutrition and environmental sustainability.
